How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5737110 / W10612022 Felt Drum Seal

Flip up top, removed front panel, take belt loose and removed drum. replaced both rollers, replaced felt seal rings on both of drum, reset drum in unit, install new belt, reassemble. 

First, I ordered the new replacement parts from Appliance Parts Pro. I researched how to replace the parts on YouTube and Appliance Parts Pro video library while waiting for the parts to arrive. I have to say, it was fairly easy after watching the videos. The hardest part was taking off the blower fan from the motor on the dryer. After finally getting that part off, everything went according to the videos. It took me about three hours. Most of that time was spent on the blower fan and waiting for the glue to dry on the felt drum seal. Now my dryer is quiet and working like a new one. Thanks, 

Ran into a bit of jam due to tight fit of felt liner. I applied the glue and as I was trying to stretch it across the drum it "popped" off the opposite side and the glue was spread on both sides of the felt liner making it useless. I kicked myself for not stretching it across the drum before I applied the glue. I found the EXACT same part, same MFG, same packaging at a local parts store. That was the good news, the bad news it was almost twice as much as the part I ordered from AppliancePartsPros but I needed it a hurry. Word of advice, stretch the liner and fit in on the drum then remove it and apply the glue. Also helps it you find an assistant. Repair was easy and the video was a life saver. Good luck! 

Replaced the rear seal on the drum. While I was at it I decided to replace the rollers, the belt, the idler pulley and the front bearing. Vacuumed out the whole cabinet and put it all back together. The whole job took about an hour. It was easy. The dryer runs tight and quiet as new again. We were looking at buying a new dryer but the $90 to tune up the old dryer saved us $300. 

Replace motor and while I was there I also replaced rollers, belt and seal. 

I replaced the Rear Drum Felt Seal and the Drive Belt. 

When I wiped the inside back perimeter of the dryer drum with a clean cloth, I got the same mark as on my laundry. So, I researched the problem online and found the same problem description and a solution on your appliancepartspros.com website. I watched the video and it looked like something I could fix myself. So, this daring, 70 yr old woman, ordered the part, used the video step by step and replaced the felt drum seal myself! The dryer works better than ever (quieter and faster) and no more marks. Only minor issues were the drum practically fell out as I was removing the front panel, so I had to manage holding onto both at the same time. When I put the drum back into the unit, I put something under it to hold it in place until I reattached the belt. Otherwise, it went as described in the video. 

Identified roller wheel with a dent and replaced it. Installed new rear seal. Watched the videos several times. When installing the seal, note that you will see the felt on the inside of the dryer. The job goes smoother with 2 people. This mom and son solved both dryer issues. 

Replaced dryer belt rollers and shafts. Also the fan and airflow gaskets. Had one problem the bottom front panel holder broke due to age also belt tension pulley. 

It went exactly as the videos showed! Half hour for the glue to dry and 5 minutes to replace drum and belt.
