How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012742 / WP8318084 Washer Lid Switch

Replaced the part. 

I checked the clutch and coupling and decided they were fine. When I removed the agitator I realized that the dogs were bad so I replaced them. I also replaced the lid switch. 

I saw videos on it possibly being the lid switch. I used 2 lead wires to bypass the lid switch, which indicated it was indeed the lid switch that was faulty. I ordered the lid switch, which came in 2 days. I installed it in less than 7 minutes. 

Replace Lid Switch. 

Ordered the lid switch from AppliancePartsPro & once it was in hand, watched the repair video online. My washer control panel was attached differently than described in the video, however, I found another video that helped explain how it could be pried loose to get access to the switch. Once that was accomplished, the repair was very straight forward. 

Ordered lid switch on line from Appliance parts Pros on Monday. The part arrived on Tuesday via FedEx. Took about 10 minutes to switch out the parts and the washer works fine. Thanks for the fast shipment and delivery. rb 

Got new pump and changed it
