How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3094323 / 279973 Dryer Thermal Cut-Off Kit

Tested high heat cutoff. Found it open. Ordered the parts from you, replaced them. 

I opened up the bottom of my dryer which requires just prying off the panel, it’s held on by 2 clips. I then located the thermal fuse, and checked continuity, found it was open. So I ordered the part from Appliance Parts Pros. They have a kit now where you replace the fuse and thermostat, so I did that. I also replaced one of the legs on the dryer because it was beginning to break. I didn’t take a full hour and I had the parts in 3 days. 

Support walked me through testing continuity on my heater and blower terminals. Narrowed it down to the thermal cutoff. Was a little tricky to unscrew. I used a small ratchet tool that barely fit. If you took the time to remove the whole heater it would have been cake. 

Replaced all the likely problem parts with genuine OEM parts from Appliance Parts Pros. I had to call the technician for help and she confirmed that my dryer does not need one of the package parts. It was a relief for me because I thought I was doing something wrong. You cannot beat the help support. The repair itself was straight forward. The most difficult part was getting access to the replacement parts. 

Researched that it was probably the heating element. I’m not a pro-diy but would have cost too much to have a professional repair; would have bought a new machine. Gave it a shot. Ordered the element and any other thermal-related items that seemed like could cause the issue. $180.00 and some learning curve from watching YouTube. Have a fixed dryer and an appreciative wife! Thanks. 

Replaced old part with new part which I bought from you folks. 

We ordered new sensors. Replaced them and it works like a champ!! 

Replace the heating element, thermal fuse, cut-off kit, and thermostat. 

It needed a thermal cut-off. Replaced it and works great. Fast shipping too. Had it the next day.
