How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008099 / WP3360977 Vacuum Break

Replaced the water-level switch and hose. Washer works again, no overflowing since! 

Replaced ALL of the Inlet and Outlet water hoses (Cracked and broken at connections). Also replaced the Vacuum Break after I busted it putting the washer back together because I had routed the Fill hose wrong for the OEM Vacuum Break. The new Vacuum Break has a notched out area for the hose to fit into so you don't break it like I did on the old one. Repair was much easier with the FANTASTIC videos for DIY's. My son took the old fill hose and vacuum break off the washer and came to the computer to appliancepartspros.com to order the parts, I went to the laundromat. Three days later the correct parts were here. The next day, because the parts were so easy to find on the web site pictures, my son put them on and by evening, I had washed again. Now the floor is dry again and I have Appliancepartspros to thank for that! 

Just took off the old vacuum break and put the new one on. It was very easy because the site had a video showing how and I watched it first. 

During the repair of the water inlet valve, I noticed the hose was cut and also the vacuum break unit was looking bad (after all the washer is 32 years old). I ordered the two parts on 5/7/20 and got them on 5/8/20 (great shipping!). I had already removed the damaged parts, so installed the new parts and put the washer back together. (the video on how to take washer apart was very helpful as I had never done that). Before I put the washer in place, I ran a test cycle and it worked great. On a lighter note, a part fell on the floor and I could not identify it, so I called APP and got to talk to MICHAELA, who researched the part and found out that it was a shipping bolt. How that stayed with the washer, I do not know as I bought it in Guam in 1988 and it has been shipped 4 times since then, MICHALEA was easy to talk to and the result made me laugh. 

The original vacuum break was falling off; the notched arms that hold it in place had eroded so the vacuum break was visible with the washer lid open. The part was spitting out water during rinse because of the movement of the tub and the fact that the vacuum break wasn't mounted to the back of the machine. The most difficult part of the repair was putting the shell of the washer back on the mount, since the little stubs in the base of the washer frame are a bit bent. 

Followed the instructions to remove covers to machine. Found water a the back of the washer at the floor where the water valve/vacuum break is located. Ordered parts, replaced the parts and no water leak. The KitchenAid Washer and Dryer is 28 yeasrs old. Since the parts and instruction videos are easy to followed I ordered extra parts to rebuild the pair. Will be placing orders for more parts to have extra parts as needed, and to repair my son/daugher-in-law washer and dryer as well. Appliancepartspros have helped me tremendously. Richard Battles 

I watched the YouTube and it showed me how to fix it.... I was very proud of myself... it was easy and I have not repaired a washing machine since 1967 when I had diapers to wash and no money to pay a repairman.... The part was identical yet less expensive as the one from Sears and arrived 10 days earlier than the estimated date for delivery from Sears.
