How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012833 / WP8523175 Bottom Door Trim

The parts arrived in short time. Had to go to YouTube to learn how to get the door off. My range is about 2004 model. The YouTube video I found did not represent my installation but gave me enough information to remove the clip so the hinge could come free. Installing the handle was difficult to impossible to get the attaching screw in. I finally had to drill out the screw receptacle a bit to where I could get the screw in. I was afraid I would break the plastic the screw goes into. Finally with my wife holding the door and all the strength I could muster on the screw driver I was able to get them in. Then came putting the hinge back into the range. No place was told to insert a nail or something into the hinge part that was attached to the door. After studying the installation I did anchor the hinge opened and slip the door into place, install the hinge keepers, and the job was finished. Saved purchasing another range. My wife was not happy. 

Removed range door and installed new bottom door trim. 

Ordered replacement part and replaced myself.

I ordered the parts from Appliance Parts Pros.com and am so pleased with the service. Their salesman was wonderful and helped us through the process to make sure we had the right material to fix the stove, other wise I would have bought another new stove. It looks brand new and I can thank your company enough. Great and fast service and great customer satisfaction. 

The only major concern with this is making sure the door glass doesn't fall. This trim piece holds the glass in place also. Other than that, not too bad. Replaced the trim piece in about 15 minutes. 

I had to take off the oven door, Then I unscrewed the top handle of the door. I screwed on the new bottom trim (which holds the front glass). Then I gently laid the new piece of glass I ordered into the tight ledge of the bottom trim and lined it up with the sides of the door. In order to screw on the top handle, the trim on either side of the oven door needs to fit underneath the handle on both sides. Also the front glass has to fit underneath the handle before you screw on the handle. It's not a hard process just takes a lot of patience so that you don't break or chip the glass. Then I needed to put the oven door back on the hinges. There is a trick to it, at least I found that it's not as easy as it looks. I got the door back on and was happy I could do it myself without having to pay a handyman.
