How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6022331 / WPW10498900 Dishwasher Spray Arm

Replaced the spray arm. 

Ordered a new spray arm and installed it as per instructions received on the website AppliancePartsPros.com. Easy! 

The customer service person was sooooo helpful! She double checked my order for both parts, helped with shipping ( which was very quick) I was able to easily replace the pieces and it works just fine. Will definitely order from here again

Ordered a new one and replaced it 

The silverware tray was a remove-the-old-and-install-the-new. Took longer to open the packing than it took to install (30 seconds) because the new one was a perfect fit/replacement for the old one. the spray arm required some "floor gymnastics" to lay down in front of it, reach up and inside to unscrew the old keeper, set the new arm in place (it was pre-assembled with bushing, sleeve, and keeper and make a half-turn to the new keeper. It works perfectly and the cleaning capsules are a real winner! 

The part I got from you was the correct one. Installation went well. 

Because we did not know how to fix this our son pulled the rack out, not knowing the clip had broken, the rack fell downward and additional pieces were broken. After ordering from AppliancePartsPros.com and watching their video on how to replace the clip it was repaired in less than 5 minutes. Thank you so much AppliancePartsPros.com!! 

First, just on general principles, I changed the door gasket. The old gasket was slightly compressed with age. That helped a little, but it didn't fix the problem. I tested the bottom spray arm with a water hose outdoors and could see it was spraying sideways out a crack along one side joint. It's only supposed to spray upwards. The bottom spray arm is almost exactly level with the bottom of the door, and there is no gasket there, just a 'baffle', so any forceful spray hitting right there would likely get past the baffle. Changing the bottom spray arm fixed the problem entirely. Since the machine is over 10 years old, I also changed the top spray arm just out of prudence, but it probably didn't need it... just being cautious. A leaking dishwasher can cause a lot of damage to your kitchen! 

First I replaced the door seals but the water leak persisted. Then I ordered all the spray arms but only replaced the middle and lower arms. This solved the water problem and in taking those two arms apart, I found there to be a good bit of calcium buildup that blocked some of the holes and the angle of the sprays.There were no tools required to replace the arms. The lower seal required removal of many parts, whereas the door seal did not require any tools. I did not replace the upper arm because it requires a pin which was not included with that arm.
