How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6019939 / WPW10341320 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve

Replaced both water control valves. This unfortunately did not fix the issue but was an important troubleshooting step. After replacing both valves and having the same issue I troubleshot the water path, single control valve - up to filter housing - down to the water cooler/reservoir "S" (made sure this was not frozen and blocked) - back to double control valve) and narrowed it down to the water filter housing being a restriction. We don't use a water filter as the fridge is plumbed to the RO system. I bypassed the filter housing (and the water cooler/reservoir) with tubing directly from the single control valve to the double control valve. Water pressure out of the dispenser is now normal. Items to note. 1. the fridge locking feet use a VERY small 1/4in wrench.. make sure you have a wrench that small 2. the backside of the fridge was relatively clean. The compressor, fan, drip pan were MUCH cleaner than expected (Good design) 3. coils can be cleaned from the FRONT without having to pull the fridge out (Good design) 

The 2 parts where easy to get to from the back bottom access panel. Remove the 6 screws on the access panel. Then I removed 2 screws holding the water input valve. Then I disconnected the plug. There were 3 water lines attached pulled the clips holding on the water lines. The whole repair took 30 mins.

Replaced the two water inlet valves. Thanks to the input of one of the experts at AppliancePartsPros.com. We had first got an appliance repair person here--he replaced a module in the ice maker, dismissed my concerns about excess water entering the ice maker and causing our problems. The first thing the repair guy asked about was whether we had a water softener, which we didn't, but which we shortly bought and installed.
