How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6284346 / W11165546 Water Inlet Valve

Replaced water inlet valve, took about an hour because I took my time and made sure I didn’t break anything else while I was changing the valve. 

After cleaning out the inlet screens the EF persisted. Ordered this to replace the valve set. Ordered on Friday, and expected it by Tuesday. I was pleasantly surprised when it was delivered the next day, Saturday. I was not so pleasantly surprised that one of the three black seals on the tubes to the water distribution manifold was missing, so I just used one of the original ones. Unplugging the wires to the original solenoid valves required more force than I expected. I pushed and tapped with a screwdriver to loosen them. The project would have been easier if the shutoff valve at the wall would fully close. 

It took me less than 15 minutes to swap out the board. I am not much of a handyman, but with a little reasoning I figured out a way to install it without removing the top cover of the washer which would be a bear to remove. 

Part arrived quickly, in 2 days. Took 20 mins to replace on Kenmore series 700 washer. Fixed LF code and washer now working/running like new again! 

Replaced water inlet valve. 

Ordered a new valve from AppliancePartsPros.com. Used their video to familiarize myself with the best process for repair and now it’s working just fine.

I replaced the water inlet valve assembly. To replace it I found it easier to remove the top of the washer to get to the clips holding the control panel in place. The process was straightforward and simple. Re-assembly was also simple. I did find a second problem when completing the project. The pressure hose to the far right of the control panel was leaking air and gave me another error code. I cut off about a half inch of the hose and slipped it back onto the connection and that solved all the problems. There are some good YouTube videos on the process that are worth watching. It saved me at least $150 dollars over a callout.
