How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014016 / WP9759243 Thermal Fuse

I am so thankful for this site! I had figured the problem was the thermostat but after seeing others report the same problem, I ordered the thermal fuse. It took more time to pull the back panel off than it did to change the fuse. The only thing I needed help with was pulling out the oven and putting it back in the wall cabinet. The oven heated right up as soon as the new fuse went in. 

Replaced limit thermostat. 

Followed video, a bit tricky to get oven out as it is quite heavy and awkward, HOWEVER on my oven the access panel was on the rear of the unit rather than on the left side, once I realized that the repair was a snap. 

Replaced thermistor (thermostat, thermal fuse). 30 mins removal & trouble shooting (tried resetting - no go). Hung oven back in wall an ordered part. Part arrived timely (actually a day before promised). Pulled oven, replaced part an reset in wall. Fired it up. Disappointed in durability of original thermistor. Had to reset several times previously. If I'd had a repair call, I'd paid at least a couple hundred each call, 2 trips, order parts replace or reset. 

The first problem I was working on was that the Lower Blower was not turning so I opened the back of the oven and gave it a push. It started working but I knew that I would need to replace it. I reassembled the oven and realized that the oven wasn't heating. I got on the "Appliance Parts Pros" website and used their troubleshooting topics and videos and discovered what had failed (Thermal Fuse). I disassembled the oven again and tested the thermal fuse by placing a jumper across the fuse to prove the failure (the videos show you how to replace parts not how to test the parts for failure). I only used the jumper to prove the failure, I did not operate the oven with the jumper in place after the test was complete. I purchased the parts from "Appliance Parts Pros." they arrived 2 days later, I changed them out (they fit perfect!) and now my oven works great! 

So a double oven enclosed in a cabinet or wall tends to heat and clean very very hot, which in turn overheats the thermal fuse and thermostat relay I believe it’s called. About the third time, this has happened after self-cleaning. Pretty easy diagnosis if you have even a cheap analog multimeter that I have. Anywhere wires connect to a relay, fuse or thermostat simply disconnect the wires and put your leads on each wire. If the needle doesn't move, that part is bad. Unfortunately, I have it down to a science and ordered the parts before we do the self-cleaning because I know this is going to happen. Make/Model: Whirlpool Oven RBD305PDB12. After reviewing the other repair stories here I took a chance that it could have been the main control panel circuit board as it was the last time this happened to me. Had that diagnosed and it was ok. Pulled the whole oven out of the wall and found that the upper oven thermal fuse had blown. Quick fix after getting the part. Part came quick so not much down time on the oven. I did find my fuse behind the upper oven and not the lower as depicted in other reviews. Tools required: Phillips head screwdriver, ohm meter, & muscle. Don't forget to turn the power off!

I researched the problem on the internet and found out that this was a common problem after using the auto clean cycle on this oven. It was simple to replace and the oven is working fine again.
