How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014016 / WP9759243 Thermal Fuse

We replaced the thermal overload fuse. It was so easy! Removed the back cover, replaced the fuse. My kids are so happy the oven works again. 

I slid the oven out of the wall and removed the fuse to check if it was good. The fuse checked bad. Ordered a new fuse from Appliance Parts Pro. The price was very good, shipping charge was not excessive, and received the part Very Quickly! Totally satisfied with my purchase and would recommend to others! 

Logged onto your site. Read recommendations for the problem. Ordered the part and replaced it. Oven works fine. 

I have a Whirlpool double oven, in cabinet model. The wife was running a self clean cycle on the upper oven and the power simply went dead to the unit before it could finish. Checked breaker, it was not tripped. Reset breaker, no change. Did some research and discovered the thermal fuses are a common issue when using self clean on these models. I replaced the control board fuse and the upper oven thermal fuse. Now the oven is back up and running. Make sure to check your actual parts 1st as the control board fuse recommended did not match up with the one on my oven model. Thanks to previous user comments and visually inspecting my appliance, I avoided needing to return and re-order parts. The job took maybe an hour. Happy with the results! 

Replacing the thermal fuse took care of the reason the elements wouldn't turn on. What I see that has not been addressed though is why did the thermal fuse burn out? It obviously got too hot, and the typical time that seems to happen is during a cleaning cycle. The engineers accounted for the extra heat by putting in a blower to keep things cool: The blower on this oven had greased itself up to the point it wouldn't turn any more. I was able to clean up the spindles and motor and it works freely now, but if your blower doesn't turn then it is pretty much a given that the next time you clean your oven the thermal fuse will do its job again. Quit spending too much money: Check your blower.

Installed part number WP9759243 aka AP6014016 Thermal Fuse. This was a one-man project which required building a slide for the removal and reinstallation of a built-in appliance. 

The repairman said the motherboard was gone. I found your site and saw where others had the same problem after cleaning. I ordered the part and installed it and works like new. Thank you for allowing feedback that helped solve the problem. 

I watched the video (Great) and it showed step-by-step how to replace the thermal fuse. With assistance from my son, we pulled the single oven out (it took both of us to lift and set the oven on an appliance dolly on the kitchen floor). Following the direction of the video, we replaced the thermal fuse in about 15 minutes. Total time to remove, replace and re-install the oven - 30 minutes. 

Upon Googling causes, the research started coming cause was the Thermal Fuse. Checked this site for the past and the description of use cases matched. Price and existed shipping standard were a plus. Also found a youtube video showing how to replace the part linked within the part information.
