How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014016 / WP9759243 Thermal Fuse

REPLACED THERMAL FUSE 

After determining that the breaker hadn't tripped. I knew it was the thermal overload fuse that had blown because it had done the same thing several years ago. This time instead of calling a service tech, I decided to do the repair myself. I checked with a couple of local appliance repair shops for the part and no one had it in stock. I started my internet search on Amazon and found Appliance Parts Pro. I had a different part and part number because the service tech from the first repair had replaced the fuse with one that was not a Whirlpool part. AppliancePartsPros.com had the part but when checked against their compatible chart it was not compatible. I searched by the oven Model No. and the correct Whirlpool part was listed and pictured and compatible and in stock. I ordered the part late Wednesday night and the part arrived at my door by noon on Friday. Since it was Good Friday, a holiday for most people, I didn't really expect to get the part until after Easter. Installing it was easy. Pull the oven out to the wall, remove the old part, attach the new part with two small screws and attach the two wire leads. Push oven back in wall. We were able to use the oven for our Easter Sunday family dinner. 

Replaced thermal overload for top oven. Replaced thermal fuse for bottom oven. Thermal fuse was simple and easy to access. Thermal overload required removing the entire oven in order to access the back panel. After that it i only had to remove and replace two screws to replace the Thermal Overload unit. 

After reading reviews, I determined this is a common problem with Whirlpool wall ovens. I replaced the thermal sensor and the thermostat just to make sure. Looks like all I needed was the sensor. $30 is much cheaper than a wall oven replace. It was quite simple to replace, when the oven is out of the cabinet. I am the person that installed the oven and it and was quite easy to remove. I am very thankful I found this site. They had parts in stock and shipped right away. I received the parts in 3 days. 

Downloaded repair Manila online, removed control panel and oven from wall, tested both thermal fuse, both had blown. Replaced both, oven works perfectly ! 

I read a lot of post and users having the same issue after doing a self oven clean. So I decided to gamble and buy the thermal fuse part before take the oven part. Luckily for me that was the issue. I pulled out the oven and inside was a manual on where the thermal fuse was. Replace and VIOLA! It starts to heat up. Now just need a way to allow wifey to continue to use self oven clean without blwoing the thermal fuse. The entire process of replacing took about 30 minutes. Very easy for a person that is not known to be a handy person (like me)!

After going to the site, and reading several different reviews regarding my actual oven problem, I discovered that it was the thermal cut off switch. Because of the advice on the site, I was able to order the correct part and install it within 30 minutes! A very simple task and it fixed it! Thank you appliance parts pros! 

I have fixed many appliances over the years through this site. Soon as the problem came up I just search the site for similar model and issue and I find the solution. So many others had the same issue I knew it was the fuse. And everytime something like this happens my Wife thinks it's too complicated for me to do alone. Lol Thanks appliance part pros your help makes look look a genius. For repair I shut off power from fuse box, took off screws to decorative framing, two screws held in the appliance, a 5 gal pail was the right height to slide the unit out and prop up on. The back has about 8 small screws and it lifts up, take the two wires off, unscrew the two screws to take off the fuse, reverse all and done! 

Had to remove built-in oven from wall because the fuse can only be gotten to from the rear.The wire to one side of the fuse was burnt, probably caused from a loose connection. The heat from the loose connection caused the fuse to open. Installed new spade connecters and installed the new fuse. There is a plate on the back of the oven that has to be removed to get to the fuse. It is a Whirlpool. A very poor design.
