How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014016 / WP9759243 Thermal Fuse

Troubleshoot and diagnosed the thermal overload was bad. 

Online research revealed that it could be the thermal fuse that was the problem. A quick removal of the trim and pulling the oven out of the wall did indeed reveal a bad thermal fuse after I tested it with a VOM. It took every bit of about two minutes to replace the thermal fuse and re-install it on the oven back! The hardest part of this project is removal and re-installation of the oven itself! 

Just replaced the thermal overload purchased. The process is a breeze. You would need two people to pull the oven out. Unscrew to take off the back panel and replace the thermal overload. That's it. 

Turn off breaker. Removed the oven from the wall and replaced the thermal fuse. Does not make any sense having a fuse of such low temperature rating. 

I changed the fuse. 

After watching a couple of videos as to the potential cause I ordered a thermal fuse. I removed the stove from the wall and replaced the fuse. put everything back together and everything now works and it took me about an hour. 

Replaced the Thermal Fuse and the control board. The board was already in need of replacing. The old Thermal Fuse was bad. The replacement resulted in everything working great! 

I ordered my parts with appliance pats pro, which they made real easy to find. Ordered my parts and recieved them the next day. Replaced the thermal overload and sensor. It was simple, it took me longer removing my oven out of the wall then replacing the parts. 

I entered the symptom with my oven on google, most reviews and responses indicated that there was an 85 % chance that changing the thermal overload would take care of the issue. I placed an order with appliance parts pros and had the thermal overload shipped. I built a 25" tall x 32" wooden bench for $18.00, I turned off the power breaker to the stove and pulled out the wall unit and placed it on the wooden stand. The wooden stand allowed me to make the repair without additional help. I Built the stand 1/4" lower than bottom height of the oven. The repair (after setup) basically took 15 minutes. I removed the back cover on the stove to access the overload. I then confirmed that there was no power on any of the wires with a voltage sensitivity tester. Although the new thermal overload did not look exactly like the old it worked just fine. Thanks appliance parts. 

I removed the double oven from the cabinet it is in and removed the fuses. I then tested each one with an ohm meter. There is a fuse for the panel and one for each oven. I went on line to find where I could get the replacement fuses and found Appliance Pro. I ordered what I needed and in two days the double oven was back in service. ps; A very good time to give the back of the oven a good cleaning!
