How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6010627 / WP697772 Dryer Blower Wheel

Consulted with AppliancePartsPro Tech and determined that we had a bad motor. The online APP videos were very helpful in showing the repair process. The disassembly was very easy and straightforward. I ordered a new motor from APP and received it in one day. Checked the new motor paperwork to make sure it was compatible and added the new wire protector. I hit a snag in removing the blower wheel from the motor. It was really tight and the center plastic hub rounded and cracked. I had to chisel the plastic off the metal core to remove the wheel. Another APP parts order to get a new blower wheel. Nice that they have regional parts warehouses, received the new blower wheel in one day. Assembly of the dryer was was again very easy, took less than an hour. Using a small electric nut driver was helpful with all the assembly screws. Everything back together and works like new... very happy wife! Give it a try.... no labor costs and the pars from APP were 30%-40% less than the local appliance dealer. 

My son removed the blower wheel as instructed in the video which was very helpful. He had a little difficulty getting it loose, but it did come loose. He did this before the new part arrived. When it did come, I replaced it using the video. 

Did a little you tube search and repaired on my own. 

Purchased a new blower wheel and followed the video on replacing it, all went well thank you. 

Replaced blower wheel and belt. Also, plastic trim on dryer door was cracked. 

Replaced the fan 

It sounded like it was coming from the blower wheel area and I noticed some fine cracks on some of the blower wheel air foils. I replaced the blower wheel. I had to break apart the old blower wheel with a pair of pipe pliers in order to get to the molded-in threaded insert and remove the insert before installing the new blower wheel. So far the noises are gone after a few drying cycles. I also had to remove the blower housing in order to get an adjustable wrench on the shaft and vice grips on the threaded insert.
