How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6012318 / WP8270019 Dishwasher Upper Dishrack Roller

My dishwasher has long fill and drain lines so there was no need to disconnect them. Pulled the dishwasher out about half way, removed the end cap to the upper tray; removed the two bolts holding the wheel assembly to the dishwaster tub; slid the broken assembly out and new assembly in; tightened down the two bolts; slid the dishwasher back into place and it was all over in under 15 minutes. The hardest part of this job was removing the end caps from the rail. 

Replaced wheel asembly 

Replaced the spinner and the rack rollers. Cleaned debris from pump assembly. It is good as new. What a great website. The real problem for DIYers is finding manuals and then the correct parts. The diagrams and instructional videos greatly simplifies the repair process. Speedy delivery too. So where have you been for my whole life? Jak 

I ordered the new tub wheels on Thursday and they arrived Friday! My husband and I both watched the repair video provided by APP together several times. A few days later we started pulling out the dishwasher after disconnecting the water line. It did not want to come out easily. I lowered the dishwasher by turning the height adjusters on the bottom front of the dishwasher. It took some tugging, but it finally slid out. We rolled back the insulation and proceded as directed by the video. Easy! Now we slid the dishwasher back in a little so I could reconnect the water line. It was a copper line and one nut would not slide off the ferrel because of the tiniest crimp. We feared not getting a tight connection, so I went to Lowes and bought a flex-line for dishwashers. We put the line on (easy), turned the water back on to check for leaks, and pushed the dishwasher completely in place, readjusted the height adjusters, reattached the screws, and ran the dishwasher. Perfect! I do recommend fles-lines over copper. Copper is so hard to work with, and we did not have to worry about loosening the connection at one end while connecting the other end with a flex line. The water line was why our repair took so long. 

We ordered the rollars and gaskets and did the job after watching the video. It was a breeze! 

The appliance parts pros showed me how to replace the roller bracket. The video they provided was especially useful in doing a very tricky job. I could not have done the job had it not been for the video. 

This was a simple fix. My husband just pulled the unit out, unscrewed the old ones and screwed in the new ones.
