Popped the ceramic top open, but was unable to remove it to turn it over for the element replacement (would have simplified the project). There was no central wire disconnect, and I was reluctant to unplug all the wires connected to the other three elements. Simply propped it open like a book, and still got it done

There was no little tabs on the new element (they fit into the bracket that holds two of the elements in place). I drilled two small holes on either side of the new element and installed the tabs just like the old element. From there it was fit the element in place, screw the bracket on, attach the wires (a little tricky as I did not have a hot air gun to shrink the plastic covers over the extension connectors. Electricians tape took care of that. Lastly, the ceramic top went down and two screws later I had a much missed element on my cooktop.
