Our trusty GE washer became suddenly unreliable. The root cause was the splines of the plastic agitator stripping and becoming smooth. I replaced the auger and agitator assembly to fix it. Probably saved a couple hundred dollars otherwise spent on a service call and got the satisfaction of fixing it myself!
