Ordered Bake Element, Y04100019 (Whirlpool AP4283614) to replace a broken bake element on my 30-year old Jenn-Air Model S125 Downdraft Slide-in electric range. Received the element very quickly but it had been damaged in shipping. Called AppliancePartsPros to report this and they quickly shipped another element - very easy process.
To install the element, I turned off the power to the range, put on rubber gloves (just in case) and removed the two sheet metal crews at the rear of the oven - had to also use needle-nose pliers to pull the screws out as they had rusted. I gently pulled the old element forward 2 to 3 inches to get at the wires and then wrapped pipe cleaners tightly around the wires to prevent the wires from getting lost behind the oven wall. To remove the old element, while holding the heating wire exiting the baking element with needle nose pliers, I carefully removed each female Faston connector wire from the element and eased the wires apart at the metal connectors.
To connect the new element I used needle nose pliers to hold the heating wire behind the male Faston connector wire from the oven while installing the female connector clips from the element. I then tested the connections to make sure they were on tightly, removed the pipe cleaners, pushed the wires back into the oven wall, replaced the two screws and turned on the power. Took about 30 minutes.
As another reviewer suggested, I then turned on the oven to a high temperature for 10-15 minutes with the door partially open to get rid of the new heating element odor. Very simple process, even for a grandmother.
