Earlier in the year I had rolled some burners around and that seemed to rectify the problem. then, others started to experience heating issues as well.
Not sure where the problem was, I ordered four new burners and connectors for the 26 yo stove. Replaced the burners first and that seems to have cured the issues. I now also have the connectors if I decide to go ahead and replace those at some future date.
