Pulled out dishwasher (make sure you flip the breaker) unscrewed circulation pump which the shredder had split leaving one sealed section in the base of the washer and the engine itself in my hand. Ordered the new pump (and a new sprayer arm because it was also melted) after some light coaxing with pliers I removed what was left of the old axle and the old pump piece popped right out. Then I put in the new pump, it is snug, don’t be fooled, as I narrowly forgot to replace the bracket that holds the pump in place. Put it back together and the dishwasher started making a strange noise, the sprayer was working so well the water was hitting the plastic interior of the dishwasher for the first time since I’d moved in six months earlier. Cleaner dishes than what I imagined was possible with such an old and robust machine! If you notice the decline, don’t wait it’s like having a brand new dishwasher!
