My washer is a 30-year old Kenmore (Whirlpool) that had started clattering at the end of the spin cycle. Not wanting to risk further damage, I went on my wife's description without repeating the run. Symptoms sounded like a failure in the brake or plastic actuator (part of clutch) so I pre-ordered these parts to have them handy before disassembly. My problem turned out to be a worn basket drive block that allowed the basket to spin on the shaft when the brake was applied. I take full responsibility for the misdiagnosis, but the washer is running great so everyone is happy. I also learned that the filter plate on the bottom of the basket is obsolete, which allowed me to remove it and discard the slime it contained. While AppliancePartsPros are not the cheapest online vendor, I always return because Matt's videos are outstanding, the parts are top-quality OEM, and shipping is reliably fast. All this is worth more than a couple bucks to me.
