Daniel P Milford , CT December 06, 2021 Appliance: LG Washer WM0642HW Lg Washer Wm0642hw / Abweeus: The cold water wouldn't shut off when the normal cycle first filled. Also at one other point in the wash cycle and I was getting a fe error code. How to replace Water Inlet Valve Assembly. I changed the cold water inlet assembly which consists of four solenoids for the different parts of the detergent assembly. One for the detergent compartment, one for the pre-wash compartment, one for the softener compartment, and one for the bleach compartment. The detergent compartment solenoid was the one not shutting off. I watched several videos that showed the inlet assembly being replaced and mine was in a slightly different position the repair was similar. Being a licensed plumber this repair in my own home was pretty straightforward. I did take the opportunity to take a little more of the unit apart. I removed the detergent assembly completely out. I also removed the connector from the detergent assembly to the drum and cleaned out all of the old detergent and softener buildup from over the years. I believe this is what adds to some of the front loader smell. Put the new inlet assembly in and made all of the connections to the detergent assembly. I made sure to mark the hoses and where they went on the inlet assembly to make sure it went back together correctly. I also changed out the hot water inlet valve at the same time.
