Do-It-Yourself Story

After researching elsewhere and not getting much help or confidence I would get the right part or even be able to do the repair myself, I stumbled upon this website and found it much more helpful than even GE's site. After watching videos here on similar fridges I ordered the part for my fridge and got the line replaced in about 30 mins (really a whole morning but that was to clean out and clean my fridge). I found that whoever had installed the first supply had routed it next to the compressor which is hot and, while it did not melt the line, it definitely browned it and likely caused it to dry out and crack. I routed it a diff way this time so that should not happen again. One other tip is that I didnt get a snug fit in the valve connector at first try so makes sure you test the water dispenser with a couple full glasses before putting the fridge back or you'll regret it!
