Possible contact corrosion on the conductors, possible calcification caused the actuator to not open the door. In any case, I received the correct part from Appliance Parts Pros and viewed a YouTube video to see how the actuator is removed and replaced. Simple spring clips (actually part of the stainless steel inner door surface) hold the system in place. Remove the outer door panel to access the clips and push the old unit out. The new unit came with a seal so I did not need to order the extra gasket. Clean the mounting surfaces and install the new unit. Connect the wires and reinstall the outer door panel and start washing dishes again.
