I ordered a replacement pump kit, Part Number AP5650269, which I have done before. There is no screen to prevent coins or such from entering the drain pump from the drum, which would cause the pump to seize -- in this case it was a pin.
When I took the pump from the package I noticed that the black plastic bracket used to fasten the pump to the washer was broken. Fortunately I did not throw away the original pump so I removed the bracket from the old pump and replaced the bracket on the new pump, successfully installing the pump. The pump is located near the rear bottom of the washer, so installing it had to be done through the bottom, which was covered by a piece of sound absorbing foam. This is not shown on the diagram.
I guess I could have called and asked for a replacement bracket, that would have meant that the washer would be down for an even longer time. However, it does show a lack of quality control -- I do not believe that the pump moving around in the box would have broken the bracket.
