Some dryers has a technician manual on the inside of the kick plate. (Maytag for sure) I used the trouble shooting guide along with a little common sense and walked through the steps. When I had no continuity on the two leads feeding the heating element I removed the element and found a broken spot on the coil. Wasn't sure if I had another condition that caused it to burn into so I checked the other components as well. Didn't appear that any thing else was bad. I replaced the Heating element and it is working great thus far. (1 week). The thermostat is kicking off and back on occasionally like it is supposed to, so I feel good about it.
