The front bearing was shot, had to replace the plastic frame and the four small bearing pads. The bearing pads had worn through so the drum was spinning on the plastic frame, hence the noise. When the drum wore through the plastic frame is became almost impossible for it to turn.
The door switch had been a little iffy for a while. When it died the dryer would not start which probably saved the dryer from more damage as the bearings were shot.
It took longer to vacumm out all the lint from everywhere than it did to replace the parts.
The only difficult task was getting the belt back on the tensioner. It's tough to reach in there around the drum and get a hold of the tensioner to get the belt on. Other than that it's really a pretty easy repair.
Thanks for the video's on the web site. They saved the day.
