After weeks of limping along trying to find settings that would work to complete the cycle without having to bail out water from heavy loads, cleaning the pump, and flushing the washer with a descaler I finally had to admit the problem required a new part. Although I thought it would be difficult, it was actually a breeze. The new pump arrived quickly and the installation took minutes (the hardest part was lining up the screws and getting the front panel back on!). Don't be at all intimidated - if a handy 67 YO woman can do it, so can you!
