I checked YouTube for a repair video. It told me how to open the cooktop and access the element as well as how to disconnect the wires and find the model number of my range. I went on the ApplianceParts website and plugged in the model number. It came up with a section for the cooktop portion of the range. I found the part via a schematic and ordered it. It arrived withing 2-3 days and I had the range fixed in less than 1/2 hour. I had this done years ago and called an appliance repair shop - it cost me $400. This time I did it myself for $165.
