I first located the thermostats and removed them. I connected an ohm meter to the terminals and placed them, one at a time, in a cast iron pan on the stove. The cut-off temperatures were printed on the label on the backs of the thermostats. (1 @ 145 degrees and the other @ 258 degrees). I slowly warmed up the pan and watched a thermometer as the temperature rose. The ohm meter may have not been necessary since I could hear the thermostat click when it activated. I took a half dozen tests and came to an average reading. The lower rated activated around 139 degrees. The higher temperature rated thermostat didn't activate to well above 310 degrees. That was the bad one. Since I had ordered both, I went ahead and replaced both of them. 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
