Sean C Springfield , OR March 12, 2014 Error code "dc" displayed on the Samsung washing machine control panel along with excessive growling noise when the drain pump would run. Unplugged the washer, shut-off the water hoses, and removed the back cover plate from the washer. The drain pump on this model is located in the rear on the right side - very convenient to access. Installed a large pair of hose crimping pliers on the inlet hose to the drain pump so I didn't have to drain the water from the tub. Removed the drain pump to check it for debris. Found that the pump impeller was stripped on the shaft, the shaft seal in the motor had failed, and the motor was filled with water. Ordered a new drain pump assembly which arrived within 2 days. Swapped the drain pump plastic housing from the old pump to the new one. Installed the new assembly back in the washer. Removed and cleaned out the drain hose. Hooked up all connections and test ran. No code and more water draining now than had been in a long time. Note that it took some repositioning of the hose clamp on the inlet hose to get it to reseat on the inlet neck of the drain pump. Had a small leak develop after the first load was run. Very easy fix considering the manual said to call a service technician! 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
