The tabs connecting the faceplate to the control board broke after 10+ years (seems to be a common issue). The switch buttons in the faceplate were out of alignment and we were unable to operate the dishwasher. This replacement faceplate was the fix.
Note that the faceplate switch buttons and handle insert are not included with this part. Order new ones if needed or reuse the old ones. Importantly, the switch buttons are all slightly different, even though they look similar. Each one has a letter molded on the back: A, B, C, etc. The faceplate has corresponding molded letters near the clips for the switch button hingepins. Each switch button has to go in its corresponding location.
Pretty simple fix otherwise.
- Remove Torx screws for the front door outside panel (located at edges of lower vertical part of inside door panel). Slide the panel down slightly and remove it from the door.
- Remove Torx screws for the control panel (located on edges of upper vertical part of inside door panel, plus one on either side). Remove two Torx screws connecting bottom front tabs of faceplate to control panel.
- Pull control panel away from door (no need to disconnect wiring). Support the control panel, and remove the faceplate from the control panel.
- Move switches and handle pull from old faceplate to new faceplate. Mount new faceplate to control panel.
- Reinstall in reverse order from above.
