I replaced the control panel. One thing to note other instructions indicate you need to pry the panel off the door with a putty knife. That works but there is no way that I can see to get the old panel out without destroying the tabs that hold the old panel in place in the door. The tabs sit in a recess in the door that make it impossible to get at the even if you would take the door apart. The moral of this story is that unless you are sure that the control panel is the problem, do not try to remove it or you will have to tape it in place once the tabs are broken. In my case it was the control panel that was fried (the compressor and the rest of the freezer seemed to be working correctly in my case) so I had to replace the control panel anyway. I DID spend a useless 30 minutes or so trying to non-destructively remove the old panel. Once I gave that up and just pried the old panel out and popped the new panel in the repair took about 5 minutes including the time it took to move the freezer away from the wall so I could unplug it, and move it back after plugging the freeze back in. DO NOT try to replace the control panel without unplugging the freezer as you run the risk of frying a $100.00+ part.
