Since it involves taking apart the top and front of the machine case anyway, I bought the parts to replace the manky door gasket and drain hose at the same time. I also took time to clear out the gasket drain pipe and drain manifold along the way.
Technically, the hardest part was wrestling the dryer out of the way so I could get at the washer. A cheap furniture lifter and some sliders were helpful. Definitely take photos as you do the disassembly, and I suggest blue taping screws by their destination holes as you remove them. There are a lot of misleading screw holes and screws in odd places with specific lengths and threads. Fortunately, there are some useful online videos showing the process as some of the steps were not obvious to me from the diagram.
Very glad I spent to get the gasket clamp spreader as it made the gasket removal and replacement quick and easy. Do be careful to note how the pump wiring is routed and which way the wiring plug goes in - the wiring connector is not keyed.
The process was tedious, but it did not take exotic skills - just patience and the ability to get at the machine.
