First, let me tell you that this is the fifth appliance I've fixed with parts and help from AppliancePartsPros.com -- At this rate I'll never get to upgrade to nice new appliances. :-(
When my wife said the dryer wasn't heating up, I looked online for common causes before I even headed to the basement. A lot of people talk about the fuses going bad, so I figured that's what it was. Next, I watched the videos on how to get to the internals of the dryer. (I hate it when I try to figure it out myself and end up breaking something) Once I opened everything up and tested the fuses with my DMM, I went back to the internet and learned how to take the drum out. Once it was out, I could see that the heating coil behind the drum was burned through. Online, everyone wants to sell you a $70 replacement coil with hood. I just wanted the coil, as I knew I could easily replace that. Luckily for me, my guys at APP here had it dirt cheap! I took the old coil out of the ceramic mounts, put the new one in, made sure it wasn't touching any metal, and slapped everything back together. (Of course since I had the thing apart, I greased up the drum bearing -- No more squeaksqueaksqueak!!!) The dryer now takes far less time to dry clothes, as it gets nice and hot.
Thanks guys! So happy with your prices, service, and videos -- again!
