I looked online to see how the issue was resolved by other GE owners. The issues seemed to point to the door latch as the dishwasher recognized me changing the wash settings, but would not start when I closed the door. When looking online it seemed like an easy fix which it really was! The hardest part was removing the bottom kickplate and pulling out the dishwasher slightly to expose the top portion. *Note: when my dishwasher was put in place originally it was placed on the same level as the floor and easily slid out. Some dishwashers are placed on the concrete then flooring put down in front. You may need to adjust the feet to be able to take the dishwasher out.* There are a few youtube videos showing the process including a video on this site. Gave me confidence that I could to this on my own and it worked like a charm! Highly recommend this site for parts.
