Replaced the glass lid with a metal lid (Part # AP6013408) used two (2) new replacement hinges (Part # AP6004844) and four (4) replacement screws (Part #AP6015313). The design of the glass lid was a poor design at best, the preload of the spring that controlled the hinges put excessive strain on the plastic frame encasing the glass top. Many people have encountered the same problem.
