Disconnect power, , disconnect exhaust tube, slide stove out, remove the top, remove & replace the element, replace the top, slide stove in, replace exhaust tube, connect power - sounds simple. BUT -
There were three challenges - our appliance is 14 years old and I first struggled to determine which of many screws had to be removed to release the top (two were hidden behind other panels that had to first be removed). I finally found a youtube video describing a Jen-Air repair for a similar Jenn-Air. Many other youtube videos exist but only one for Jen-Air. Once top was removed I learned the wiring of the replacement part was different from the failed part so I had to figure out how the connections should be made after I installed the new replacement. (would have been nice if some note had been included about the variation in wiring). Reinstalling the exhaust tube was a physical challenge because of the lack of work room and inability to really see if the tube was on the two ports before re-installing the clamps while lying on my stomach and reaching into the space under the stove. My 'difficulty' rating is based on: no instructions to remove the top; replacement part was not an exact item; replacing the exhaust tube was time consuming. I was successful and everything is working. More importantly, wife is pleased.
