At first, I replaced the ice maker itself. The refrigerator started making ice but that only lasted about 2 months before it stopped again. AppliancePartsPros.com recommended it may also be the water filter but since the unit was still dispensing water and not ice, it was probably the water inlet valve. As I had never changed the filter, I ordered the filter and the valve. Replacing both took about 15 - 20 minutes. After the repair, this is sort of the strange part. At first, it still did not fill the tray with water even after cycling it off and on. As troubleshooting, I manually filled the ice maker tray with water. After a while, I heard the ice fall and then I heard the ice maker filling up with water on its own. While it's only been a few weeks, it’s been working ever since.
