I cleaned all the jet nozzles with a toothpick and a pipe cleaner to remove the hard water deposits. I then replace the ring bearing under the bottom spray wand and the ring bearing under the upper spray wand. I also replaced the smaller radial ring bearing. Although none of them looked overly worn, it doesn't take much to cause the spray wands to spray inadequately.
Then, I replaced the float and washer assembly. Although it appeared to work properly when I lifted up on it and let it down, it wasn't until I installed the new one that I found that the inside of the assembly was completely 'gunked' (my word). Both the pillar and the inside of the float were covered in a brown sticky grime that was no doubt keeping the float from working properly.
Finally, I ran 1/2 cup of CLR in the Normal wash cycle. This helped to clean the interior of the dishwasher. I also used a gentle scouring pad to clean the interior and ran the dishwasher several times until the were no suds in the wash cycle. All is well!
