After about 2 years of use, our KitchenAid dishwasher KDTE104ESS1 was not washing dishes. It was leaving dirty dishes with partially dissolved detergent packets on the bottom of the washer after running an entire cycle. Dishwasher was wet on the inside and steaming if I opened it during or immediately after a cycle, so I determined it was likely the motor or pump that was broken. Ordered the entire assembly for repair, and it appears to have fixed the problem.
The repair took about 1.5 hours. I had to remove the dishwasher from under the counter and turn it on it's back to replace the assembly. Removing and reinstalling the machine was the majority of the time -- replacing the actual part was fairly quick. There are videos available with detail for replacing the pump (part W11032770), replacing the entire assembly is basically the same process with a few more wires.
