After some searching, I learned that it's common to have leaks where the diverter motor shaft runs through a bushing in the sump. That sure looked like what was happening in my case. It's too bad you can't just replace the bushing, but there doesn't seem to be any easy way to do that. It's also hard to know whether the failure is due to wear on the bushing or on the shaft, so I decided to go ahead and replace both. I haven't done this sort of repair before, but the AppliancePartsPros video was extremely helpful.
