Replaced the switch. If you were short of money you could probably fix the switch by gluing the halves back together. Once you have gone to the trouble of taking the washer housing off it makes sense to replace the switch.
The video that appliancepartspros provided on the page where you order the switch, is excellent, very clear. The guy that does these is very good at it. You can watch it on an ipad and pause it as required. It provides the key info most of us are missing, ie, how do you get the machine housing apart to get at the internals. The job went smoothly and was not physically demanding since the washer housing is thin sheet metal and relatively light.
