I am not really a handy person. When my dryer would not start I browsed the internet and found many videos on how to repair. The most informative videos being the AppliancePartsPros.com videos. I suggest viewing as many of those as possible before attempting the repairs and then making the determination on teh best sequence to follow. The lights on my 10-11 year old Whirpool Duet dryer were on but the drier would not run when I pressed the start button. The research I did indicated a sensor problem but the "sensor bars" do not seem like the type of parts that would go bad so i did not order them at first. I went out of sequence and ordered a new "control board" I replaced that and unfortunately that did not fix the problem. I then researched some more and saw that a common problem was the "thermal fuse". I replaced that but that repair also did not solve the problem. I did some more research and decided to order two new "sensor bars" and a "thermistor". I replaced the "sensor bars" and once again that repair did not fix the problem. I finally replaced the "thermistor" and voila, problem solved. If I had it to do over again based on what I see I would have ordered the thermal fuse, thermistor and tried to repair those first and waited abit on the sensor bars and especially the control board as that was the most expensive part.
