William H Pembroke , NC May 11, 2023 Appliance: Maytag Electric Dryer MDE8600AYQ Maytag Dryer Mde8600ayq: Maytag 2002 dryer loud squealing at startup. How to replace Drum Support Roller. Replaced the Belt, 2 Drum Support Rollers, 2 Drum Roller Axles, and Belt Tension Pulley. Squealing is now gone and the Dryer tumbles smoothly again. Used install video as a guide. Comes in handy knowing a 1/2-inch nut on the backside of the Roller Axles. Also, the snap ring holding on Drum Rollers is very small. Had to go to True Value and get a mini set of snap rings for pliers to get off (very small). The Axle and Support Roller nearest the Heating Element was the squealing issue.
