After removing the kick plate on the 40+ year-old machine and finding the old (yellowed) belt in 2 pieces on the floor, the problem was clear. I ordered/received the replacement belt and set about to follow the instructions. It is a MAJOR challenge to stretch the belt enough to get it around both pulleys! After a couple soaks in hot water and stretching the belt as best I could, using all my arm strength in the close quarters under the unit, I was finally able to succeed in holding the belt partially on the center pulley and then turning it enough for it to fully engage. I applied the silicone grease supplied with the belt, then ran the rinse/hold cycle. Everything worked fine, draining completely into the garbage disposal under the sink! Believe me, the old dishwashers are much noisier than any sold today. My sister once worked for Maytag and traveled with the "Lonely Repairman". I told her that I filled his role for this repair. :)
