The pump on our 15-year-old washer was replaced due to noise since it is located within our living area. Because the washer model was different than displayed in the DIY video, I simply had to loosen two screws to access the area. The video shows a more complex situation that would have made the repair very difficult since the dryer is stacked on top of the washer.
The disassembly of the hose and removal of the pump was quick. Installing the pump is easy, but getting two of the hoses for the tub to pump hose reattached was tricky due to the two spring clamps. In the end, it's highly recommended to use a small locking plier (Vise-Grip) to hold spring clamps open rather than trying to squeeze regular pliers as shown in the video
Careful attaching the upper vent hose connector which is secured to the tub with a thin piece of plastic and be sure that the small black hose (leads straight up) at the top of this connector is slid back into place within a clip on the washer tub or it will slap against the enclosure making a disconcerting noise during the spin cycle if is not secured.
A new hose was bought as a precaution. The original hose looked okay.
After the assembly, with the access door still open, I ran a rinse and spin cycle to confirm the operation. There were no leaks and the pump was much quieter. Worth the time!
