This was the third igniter replacement. The range is 21 years old and getting to see the igniter is an easy job. However removing it from the burner is not. The burner hold down bracket prevents lifting the burner out so you can get at and remove the igniter. And with it in place it is next to impossible to get at the two screws holding the igniter. And when you do it is even more difficult to replace them. Although I know it is not recommended I bent the hold down bracket just enough to lift the burner out. The igniter replacement then was a piece of cake. After the burner with the new igniter was back in place I very carefully re-bent the hold down bracket and put everything back together. If I could have easily removed the burner the job would have only taken less than an hour.
Although removing the racks is a no brainer, it is easier to get at the other parts if you remove the door that does lift out.
