A little work with a multi-meter confirmed that the lower electirc heating element had failed. I ordered a new one and it arrived within 48 hours - well done Appliance Parts Pros!! Installation was quite easy. The toughest part of the project was getting the oven door off its hinges in order to have easier access for the work. It should have just lifted off but it had not been removed in many decades so it had to be persuaded. Once I had access it was five minutes to remove the old element and install the new one. Two screws hold the element in place and two more connect the wires to the element. We can bake again!
