The symptoms indicated a faulty cold water inlet valve assembly but I figured with the age of the machine that I would replace both cold and hot assemblies. The assemblies were right next to each other at the top rear of the machine, very easy to get to. Simply removed the top panel of the washer, unhooked the water supply hoses, unhooked the hoses for the valve assemblies, unscrewed the valve assemblies, replaced them and hooked everything back up. Very easy.
