The fridge was making a clicking sound that I found out was the compressor trying to turn on, but it wouldn't because the start relay (and possibly capacitor was bad. My fridge is from 2008. The replacement parts were updated and do not look like the original and are different. These parts I ordered are based on running the fridge model number from the tag inside (where the food goes). The numerous various unmarked numbers on my old parts were useless. Use the fridge model number.
**new parts have a connection for 3 wires. Old parts only had a connection for 2 wires. Since I only had 2 wires to plug in, I didn't think it would work. Tech support said plug one wire into the overload and the other into the #2 plug on the start relay and don't worry about the other one. Evidently either color wire can go in either plug. If it doesn't work, swap it, but still use the #2 connection on the start relay and other wire to the overload . It worked! Thank you very much.
Now that I know what I'm doing, I could do it in less than 10 minutes. (Cleaning coils etc takes longer)
*start relay and overload and capacitor could be held in by a wire clip. It will be obvious if it's on there because it is big. Once that's unclipped, if it's even on there, overload, capacitor and start relay are press fit only. Pull out or pry out if stuck.
